Tudor food (poor)

Since the rich Tudors considered fruits and vegetables a poor food, the poor Tudors ate them all the time, because they couldn’t afford meat. The common vegetables were onions and cabbages. poor lettuace food

If they were lucky, they might live near a stream and could go fishing, or they could work on a farm for food.

They were really unlucky but, bread was a way to show how poor they were. In Tudor times, people were classed by how much bread they had. Poor Tudors only had rye or wholemeal bread.

Dairy food, such as cheese, butter and milk, were other foods considered for the poor.

Instead of drinking water, poor Tudors would drink ale.
